Bananas are yummy, but they’re also practical. Want to know why? If you and your family love bananas, you probably end up with a lot of peels in your garbage, especially if you make banana cream pie or banana bread. But there is no reason to throw those peels away. In fact, they have a ton of beneficial uses in your garden. For example, here’s how to make your own banana peel fertilizer.
1. Collect Your Peels
Save your banana peels until you have enough of them for a batch of fertilizer (15-20). Just throw them in a freezer bag and keep them in your freezer. Before you freeze them, but off the stem and end pieces; this will make processing them a lot easier.
