Climbing Roses Tips
Climbing Roses Tips
Always be sure to keep your roses well watered everyday. You never want them to dry out because they need the moisture to survive and grow properly.
A very useful tactic for climbing roses is to use Mulch. Make sure to apply the mulch at the base of your roses, with an organic compost, to help your garden retain soil moisture.
When the rose shrub is new, it should be left alone for two or three years. After that time, you can begin pruning side shoots down to two or three buds every winter, when the plant is dormant.
Climbing roses will bloom on new stems that grow on old wood. After two or three years, It is important to prune your roses so that more will grow. Climbers should be pruned in late winter or early spring so that new vertical flowering stems will produce the maximum amount of flowers they can.
