How To Make DIY Stepping Stones
- Cover your work area {preferably outside on a dry day} with a drop cloth. Use newspapers undeath each mold.
- Spray the molds with non-stick cooking spray.
- Mix the cement according to the package directions. Make your best guess as to how much you’ll need to fill each mold.
- Now carefully pour the cement into the molds.
- The kids get to add their chosen decorations to the tops of the stepping stones, immediately after you fill the molds. Things like jewels, plastic toys, play cars, etc. are good choices. If you have excess tiles from a tiling job, carefully break them into pieces. Use the pieces to form a mosaic design on the stepping stones.
- Kids can also press their hands into the tops for a handprint design. Or press leaves and other items into the cement to leave an outline.
- DIY stepping stones need at least a full day, maybe two, to dry thoroughly. Once dry, remove the mold and help the kids place them in the garden.
