When the weather drops outside and the daylight hours become fewer, it’s easy to forget what the outside and entrance of your home look like. However, they’re a huge part to decorating for the Christmas season! Here are some great ideas that will help you spruce up your porch and make it really look like the holiday season has come!
Pillows
While most people won’t be sitting outside, you can still show some Christmas spirit by adding Christmas themed pillows to the furniture. Whether it’s pillows with Christmas phrases or pictures of reindeer or elves, just choose some that you love!
Embellishments
Every porch can use a little bit more Christmas embellishment, that’s just the way the holiday season goes. Find (or make) some fun Christmas embellishments like this twig reindeer that will really have your porch looking awesome.
Mini Christmas Tree
Instead of keeping your normal potted plants and shrubbery, replace them with awesome mini Christmas trees. You can even wrap the trees in Christmas lights and add colorful bows for some great contrast!
Colors
Winter turns things bleak and dreary so put some color on your porch to add a little hope to the cold season! While Christmas colors would probably be best, you can choose anything that goes well with your home and brings the Christmas spirit!
Rustic Décor
For some reason, Christmas is always heightened with rustic looking decorations and furniture. Get that effect by making décor out of twigs, wood, green plants, and/or red berries. Obviously they don’t have to be real, artificial will do just as well.
Wreath
It’s not Christmas until you hang a wreath somewhere, right? You can settle for a store-bought one, but making your own is way cooler! It’s actually pretty simple and you’ll be guaranteed a one-of-a-kind decoration!
Garland
Garlands are a great way to add Christmas spirit almost anywhere and they cover up a lot of space with little effort on your part. Put them over your door, around handrails, or anywhere else you think would be good.
Lights
Because it gets so dark during the winter, adding another set of festive lights is a great way to spruce up your porch. You can put out candles, wrap lights around bushes or rails, or do anything else that you like.
Creative
Just be creative with your decorations! For example, an ice skate with some holiday plants is an easy and unique way to decorate. Simply choose objects that reflect Christmas or winter and go to town!
Presents
You can actually put out wrapped boxes on your porch to look like presents or you can use your creative juices and do something like wrapping the plants! Whatever you choose, it’s sure to make your visitors happy and feel the Christmas spirit.
Greens
We all know that winter makes the green and color go away and be replaced by gray, white, and brown. Fight back and deck your porch out in lots of greens and plants! This is especially useful in sitting areas because no one is probably going to be spending much time out on the porch anyways!
