It’s always greener on the other side–or so the saying goes. But not anymore! Today we have tips to green up your lawn. Go green, and it won’t be greener on the other side because your lawn will be the other side! Keep reading to see how you can go green.

Tips To Green Up Your Lawn

A green lawn is not only great for enjoying your yard all summer long, it also provides instant curb appeal for your home. A green lawn also just feels better! It’s softer, more lush, and much better for relaxing and playing on. But how can you turn a patchy, yellowing lawn into a lush green getaway? The good news is you can green up your lawn fairly quickly! There are several ways to make it happen. This includes getting your grass up to the right height, thicker, and better fed. A happy, well-fed lawn is a much greener lawn.

Mow Regularly

Yep, the first of our tips to green up your lawn is to be sure you mow it on a regular schedule. During the summer, you could actually mow your lawn as often as twice per week, depending on how fast it grows. Set the height of the mower to cut no more than one-third of the total height off the grass. More than that is simply too much at one time. This makes your lawn appear thinner and can actually kill off entire patches of lawn.

Water More, But Less Often

Quick watering sessions multiple times per week only waters the top layer of grass–the water does not have time to penetrate to the roots where it’s really needed. This causes weak grass that withers at the first sign of heat! Water less often, but water for longer sessions. This gives the water time to really go deep, all the way to the roots. Strong roots equal strong grass!

Feed Your Lawn

A good fertilizer with nitrogen is a fast way to green up your lawn, but it only needs to be applied a couple of times over the entire season. Even if you fertilize, your lawn can actually be anemic, so apply some ironite at the beginning of the spring, before the daytime temperature exceeds 70 degrees F. You should only need to do it once per season, but it really helps green up your lawn!

With these tips to green up your lawn, you’re set for a good-looking lawn all season long. Know that there are also things you can do in the fall to help your lawn green up next spring. When your neighbors want your secrets, send them here!
